Lennar is one of the largest and most established homebuilders in the United States. The company traces its roots to 1954, when it began as F&R Builders in South Florida; it was renamed Lennar Corporation in 1971, combining the first names of two of its founders, Leonard Miller and Arnold Rosen. Today Lennar is headquartered in Miami, Florida, trades publicly on the New York Stock Exchange (tickers LEN and LEN.B), and is a component of the S&P 500. As of 2025 it ranks as the second-largest home construction company in the country by homes delivered, building across roughly 30 states and dozens of major markets.
Lennar entered the Greater Nashville market in June 2013, beginning with homesites in the Tollgate Village community and led by a longtime local homebuilding veteran. Over the past decade-plus the builder has grown into one of the most active production builders across Middle Tennessee, with communities spread throughout the Nashville metro and surrounding counties. Its presence ranges from townhomes and first-time-buyer product to larger single-family neighborhoods and master-planned settings.
In Hendersonville, Lennar is a builder partner at Durham Farms, a Freehold Communities master-planned community in the 37075 area roughly 20 minutes northeast of downtown Nashville. The community is known for its resort-style pool, miles of trails, parks, a lifestyle coordinator and 'The Farmhouse' amenity hub. Lennar's offerings there have included single-family homes in its Classic Parks Collections as well as the Estate Villas, a collection of low-maintenance paired residences, with plans typically ranging from the two-bedroom villas up to five-bedroom designs with three-car garages.
Lennar's product style is defined by its signature 'Everything's Included' program. Rather than steering buyers through an a-la-carte design center where popular features cost extra, Lennar builds desirable upgrades into the base price of the home. That standard package commonly includes granite or quartz countertops, stainless-steel kitchen appliances, energy-efficient windows and a tankless water heater, alongside a smart-home and connectivity package built to Wi-Fi CERTIFIED home-design guidelines. The goal is a simpler, more transparent shopping experience where the advertised price reflects a well-appointed home.
A distinctive part of Lennar's lineup is its Next Gen design, marketed as 'the home within a home.' These floor plans pair a main residence with an attached private suite that has its own entrance, living area, kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom, connected to the main home by an interior lockable door. Next Gen is popular for multigenerational living, extended-stay guests, a home office or grown children, offering flexibility that can adapt over time without renovation. Availability of specific plans, collections and included features varies by community.
What buying from Lennar is like
Buying from Lennar centers on its 'Everything's Included' model, which folds sought-after features and a smart-home package into the base price instead of an upgrade-heavy design center. Buyers shop largely by choosing a community, floor plan and homesite, with a curated set of finishes already designed in. The process is supported by a free myLennar online account for saving floor plans, tracking construction progress and accessing documents, plus in-house services through Lennar Mortgage and Lennar Title for one-stop financing and closing. Homes are backed by a tiered limited warranty: generally one year on workmanship, two years on major systems and ten years on structural elements (with normal maintenance and exclusions applying). On the building-science side, standard energy-conscious construction typically includes energy-efficient windows, added insulation, LED lighting, programmable thermostats and a tankless water heater, aimed at lower utility costs and everyday comfort.
